Chapter 10:

Confused...

 

Arnav makes Lily sits in the car…

He arranges the seatbelt for her…

They come back to home…

 In her room, in the night, he makes her in bed and before he told her a story, he asked:

-you kissed your teacher the Ice cream peck?

She nodded positively…

-and why?

-because I love her!

-but you didn’t kiss Nani or Di never that way; you love them also!

-mmm(she nodded positively) but I want only to kiss you and kiss my Mith the Ithe cream peck!

He looks at her wanting to hear more…he asked:

-you love her that much?

-I want her to be my mum!

-what?

Arnav gets the shock of his life…

Arnav shouts that “what “ a little bit out loud…and Lily for the first time jerked…and scared she hides her face with the blanket…

He changes the tone…

-Lily! What? Why you asked her to be your mum? You had already a mother!

He pulled the blanket off her face and looked at her…

She keeps silent…

Arnav cupped her face…

-talk to me, lily!

-no!...you’re angry!

-No! I’m sorry! I’m not!...just tell me!

-if I tell you…you will be angry

-no! you can speak to me! But Lily you know you have a mum!

-but she can’t be with me, right?

-yes! But you can’t ask someone else to be your mum!

-my Mith told me tho (so) but she told she loves me tooooo much

Arnav hugged her…

He wiped his teary eyes… as the way his daughter is talking like that affected him…

And then he broke the hug…she looked at him:

-you’re upthet with me, paa?

He nodded negatively

-and you? Are you upset?

-me! I’m! because I haven’t a mum!

he looks at her eyes and saw her teary eyes just like him…

-you can tell mum to come from thky (sky) to me?

He nodded negatively, retaining himself from crying before his daughter…

That Lily is upset and talking like that, he can’t bear…

He could do anything…

-you can tell my Mith to be my mum?

He looks at her…

He doesn’t answer but hugs her again…he felt if he will say “no” or “we can’t” to her again, it will make her even more upset, even more sad…that’s when he could feel her wet tears on his t-shirt…

His daughter is crying silently…making his heart breaks on thousands of pieces…

-shhhh…it’s ok…everything will be ok! I will do anything for you my angel…shhhh…

He heard some sobs…

-No! Lily…why you’re crying, now! I’m here with you! I love you betya…I’m always here, Papaa is here with you! You don’t cry if I’m here!

-for (sobs) me  (sobs)  paa…tell her (sobs) plea (sobs) tell her (sobs) to come live with me (sobs) I love her to be with me (sobs)

-shhhh…it’s ok…

She was talking sobbing and eyes half closed…and feeling all sleepy…she slept like that in his arms…

He looks at her angelic face…her wetted soft cheeks…he wiped them…he retains his tears enough…now tears come out from his eyes…he doesn’t want to…but seeing his daughter like that, he can’t bear that pain…

Those days, Lily was asking about her mother…the more she asks, the more he doesn’t find convinced answers...she even asked about death and why God has taken her mother with him...because she needs her, God should let her mum come back to her because she’s little and she needs her more…he explains to her…but…of course…all what she wants is a Maa…

But, this is the first time; his Lily begged this way…to him…

He saw the sadness in her eyes…those tears…

And this sadness…he saw her before many times…but not at this level…

Those days…many times…

Whenever Anjeli is with her baby: feeding, carrying, kissing…

He saw her eyes…and he can notice sadness…an intense sadness…his daughter is orphan…and even him, couldn’t change this fact…

Not seeing your mother is a torture…he has an idea about that, even when he lost his mother…he felt this…but at least, he has experience what it felt to have a mother…at least, he lived with his mother in the past…Lily doesn’t experienced that even for a day…her mother is dead the same day she’s born and she even hasn't the chance to hug her, once…she never call someone as Maa, even once.…Nani, Anjeli was always there…but…something is missed in the life of Lily…little Lily…his angel…

He could see that his daughter is missing that presence…Now that she’s conscience enough to understand…that why all the children have their mum and not her???...how it’s unfair to feel like that!

All those emotions were dissimulated, in the past, due to the presence of Di…

Now, his Di is busy….

Lily is a sensible child…

And there is also: the presence of Khushi in her life which changes her more….

She wanted her to be her mother…

She finds the love, the care in Khushi and wants her to be her mum…

Arnav remembers some flashbacks…

When he brings forcibly Miss Gupta in the RM and the way they hug each other and kiss each other: Lily and Miss Gupta…the way Lily was looking at her, like her life was depending of that!

The way they spend all this time in the hospital…

He tries to remember every gesture, every detail…the way they run together to public washroom in the hospital…the way Lily was amused…

The ice cream peck and that look she gives to her…

Lily…

Nothing matter but her in his life and in that entire world!

Even his love for his dead wife was nothing comparing to Lily’s happiness!

He wants her happy at any cost!

Arnav in those days was thinking about the same matter…what Lily said to him…

Controlling his little daughter…he could see she’s always happy in the day in her school and practically all the time silent in the evening and night with them…not the same Lily…even with him…she’s changing…

He thought about taking her to a doctor…a psychological one and then repent…no one knows his daughter more than him…he knows what she wants and loves exactly:

Lily giggled …

That can happen only when she still in the school…

Her mood changes when she’s at home…

He has to be all the time with her to that he can make sure to that she’s not sad or thinking….he so wanted what she’s thinking in that little head of hers…

He gives Khushi an intense look…

He wanted to tell her right at that moment “come now with us!” …

If he has the power, he will forcefully now…lift her the way he’s lifting Lily now and just take her home, along with his daughter…

But nothing of that happened…he just left from there…

Children all out…

Khushi could come back finally home…

She saw him today also…

He was looking at her a strange look…

She doesn’t understand what he wanted to say to her…

He doesn’t speak anything but she felt he wanted to say something to her…

In the way to her home, only his image is stuck in her mind…

He was trying to look straight in her eyes when he was lifting Lily…he wanted something from her…she’s sure about it…

And that makes her feel strange…

He’s so arrogant…she thought…maybe he think he’s so irresistible…

Why he’s looking to her like that???

Before her home…She opened the door….

She called her buaji…but doesn’t reply and she’s nowhere to be seen…

She called her again and looking at her in her room, but didn’t find her…

Meanwhile, she walks towards the kitchen to drink some water…

-she’s maybe with the neighbors, talking about my future marriage! She’s unbelievable…

The moment, she enters the kitchen…

Khushi screams…and then remains her two hands towards her mouth in a shocked state…

Tears come down from her eyes…so fast…

She runs and falls on her knees besides her buaji’s body….

Finding that body without move or warm…

For a second, she thought she lost her…

The pain on her heart makes her lose her reason…she doesn’t know what she should do…

Her hand, automatically, touch the chest of her buaji…wanting to know if her heart is still beating…

She calls desperately: “ buaji…buaji…buaji…buaji please…”

In a desperate murmur…

It was like she was in a black tunnel where no light is there to guide her to come out of that dark tunnel…

“buaji…buaji breathe for me! Buaji…”

She leaned to feel her breathe…

She checked her wrist…

She’s alive…but it wasn’t enough for Khushi…her buaji is not moving…

“buaji…don’t leave me! Stay!....stay with me!”

The hope knowing her buaji still alive makes Khushi gets up…

She calls for an ambulance…

Holding her Buaji’s hand…

“don’t go! You don’t have the right to go….you don’t….stay with me…stay”

he's confused here...he see his daughter upset and see that she's changing and with him , she's not the same...

at the same time, he's wide awake that Khushi will not easly accept that...
